PORTA PORTESE
Every Sunday morning for three months I visited the famous flea market at the Porta Portese gates in Rome. I went not because I wanted to buy something but because I wanted to absorb the amazing diversity of language, dress, food and culture from the thousands of people there: vendors, tourists, shoppers, immigrants, pilgrims, beggars, thieves, buskers, gamblers and everyday Romans.
